In mid-March, two large timber structures were erected at Tapuarau Lagoon in the Waitotara Conservation Area, just inland from the mouth of the Waitotara River.

(KSLA) - Rain and storms will pick up ahead of slow moving cold front the next couple of days. We’ll be wettest later Tuesday night into Wednesday morning. A few strong storms are possible starting Tuesday afternoon, but the overall severe risk looks limited.
Clouds will roll back in tonight. A stray shower or strong storm may impact areas north of I-30, but most will stay dry. Temperatures will cool to the upper 50s and lower 60s.

The event, held throughout March, raised money for the Kind Hands respite care cottage, which offers respite care for children aged under six who have a disability or are medically fragile. One of the fastest wind gusts in history was recorded 87 years ago Monday on Mount Washington. On April 12, 1934, a 231-mph gust was recorded by observers at the peak of the mountain. At the time, it was the strongest gust ever recorded on the surface of the Earth. The record was later broken when a weather station in Barrow Island, Australia, recorded a 253-mph gust during Cyclone Olivia in 1996. This gust was verified in 2010 as the word s strongest non-tornadic gust. The Mount Washington gust still is the fastest gust ever observed directly by people and also is the strongest non-cyclone gust.
